"If we're going to out-innovate and out-educate the rest of the world, we've got to open doors for everyone. We need all hands on deck, and that means clearing hurdles for women and girls as they navigate careers in science, technology, engineering and math."

—First Lady Michelle Obama, September 26, 2011

Our Mission

For Kids

STEM You Can! is a 501 (c) (3) youth-led nonprofit organization that provides free STEM summer camps and other programs for elementary and middle school kids to spark their interest in science. We hope to show young kids that science can be fun and exciting by performing hands on experiments to explore areas, such as energy and matter, global warming and renewable energy, astronomy, chemistry, and neuroscience. Since boys are three times more likely to pursue STEM careers than girls, we are also focusing on encouraging girls to pursue scientific knowledge at a young age through our Girls Science Interactive camps.

For Youth

We train high school and college students to start STEM You Can! programs in their communities and become true leaders. We offer workshops and training seminars to teach our unique curriculum and provide ongoing mentorship.

Girls in STEM: A New Generation of Women in Science

"Girls in STEM, featuring young women scientists and engineers who wowed the President and the nation at the White House Science Fair in February, shines a spotlight on these extraordinary young role models and their exciting projects – ranging from a machine that detects buried landmines, to a prosthetic hand device, to a lunchbox that uses UV light to kill bacteria on food."
